LGBTQI Health

LGBTQI Health

We are proud to be a LGBTQI-friendly clinic that provides services across all areas of LGBTQI Health. We offer HIV Management (Dr Erin Batman only), sexual health, counselling & mental health services, transgender health and we can even help lead you in the right direction for support services such as accommodation assistance, coming out support services, etc.

Sexual Health
Whatever your sexual preference may be, it’s vital to protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections. It is recommended that you see your GP for a sexual health check-up every 3 months, if you are at risk.

Doctors at Pulse Medical can diagnose and arrange tests or treatment required for a range of sexual health issues including STDs & HIV exposure/management.

We also administer vaccines to help prevent HPV which is the cause of many cervical cancers and oral cancers.

Along with treatment and vaccinations,  doctors  here are also happy to offer sexual health advice. So don’t be shy to ask any sexual health questions you may have.

LGBTQI Mental Health

The LGBTI community is disproportionately susceptible to poorer mental health outcomes in the current societies. Studies found that the LGBTQI community has an increased risk of suicide. Coming to terms with one’s sexuality, facing homophobic attitudes and discrimination, and suffering rejections from the ones you love are all issues that have the potential to cause significant emotional and psychological distress for LGBTI people.

Some of the most common issues we see that we can help you with include:

  • Coming out
  • Depressions & anxiety
  • Anger management
  • Relationship issues (not just with a partner but friends & family after coming out)
  • Confusion about your orientation or gender identity
  • Drug & alcohol addictions
  • Childhood trauma/abuse & bullying

Whether you need to speak to a counsellor, social worker or psychologist, book an appointment with one of the doctors here to see if you qualify for a mental health care plan referral under Medicare.

Remember there is always help available, so pick up the phone and make an appointment with us to get the conversation started.
